Inkle Studios announced today that 80 Days, their award winning interactive fiction game previously only available on mobile devices, has been rebuilt “from the ground up” in collaboration with Cambridge-based studio Cape Guy. The game will be available on September 29th on Steam, GoG and Humble.
80 Days is loosely based on Jules Verne’s novel Around the World in Eighty Days. The player controls Phileas Fogg’s manservant Passepartout, who must look after his master’s health, finances, route and schedule as they traverse the globe to win a bet. Time named it the 2014 Game of the year and it was nominated for four BAFTA awards and three IGF awards. Lead writer Meg Jayanth won a UK Writer’s Guild award for her work on the massive 500,000 words of content.
The new release adds thirty new cities, over 150,000 words and two new plot lines in addition to the upgraded graphical capabilities.
