GoG Launches Games In Development

GoG.com enters the early access market, promising “excellent hand-picked games, 14-day refund policy, always DRM-free.”
The early access thing has been an interesting ride for gamers. Many of us are Steam users and have had more than a few intense conversations about the pros and cons of their services. Don’t get us wrong, we love Steam, however, their early access program has been marred by lack of careful curation and a few customer service policy issues.
GoG’s new Games in Development program specifically addresses the biggest problems we have with Steam’s Early Access.
Yes, you are still buying an incomplete game, but GoG has committed to “hand-picking only the games we can truly stand behind.” So while you may be taking a bit of a risk, GoG has mitigated a good amount of it by putting every game through its paces before agreeing it is worth any of our money.
Speaking of our money, unlike other services, GoG is offering a no questions asked 14-day return policy. They don’t care if you want the game because of technical issues or if you just aren’t into it - if you want your money back, you can have it.
The first games available via Games in Development illustrate the care GoG took in choosing games. The five available cover a wide variety of genres and are fully playable games:
Starbound - Action, Adventure, Sandbox for Windows, Mac and Linux
Ashes of the Singularity - Strategy, Real-time, Sci-fi for Windows
Project Zomboid - Action, Simulation, Open World for Windows, Mac and Linux
TerraTech - Action, Building, Sci-fi for Windows and Mac
The Curious Expedition - Adventure, Strategy, Historical for Windows, Mac and Linux
