Search and Find a Date Hotfix

Whoops, we broke the search but we've fixed it!
Last month we rolled out an improvement for the backend of our search and Find a Date feature. The update fine tuned our results to produce faster results and helped tackle spammers and bots in sign up. This removed "blank" fields from Signup, to stop people from erroring out and signing up too fast and spamming others.
However.... (And we don't give game devs hassle for fixing one and breaking another, because now we've experienced it ourselves!)
No-one on the internal team had actually noticed that after this, search wasn't functioning as it should have been. Thankfully one of our users emailed in a concern about our service and the removal of a feature in the search.
Users had to select "exactly" the people they're looking for - which is rediculous - Sorry!
We have rolled out a fix that returns the missing functions.
We removed the blank fields in search too by accident! Having a blank field basically makes any search usable, and without blank fields, we've been forcing users to search for extremely specific people every single time.
We made an unintentional change to our search. We have to apologise for this, because it's a giant mistake from us which was absolutely unintentional.
The reason this happened, was because search and signup are related, we had a problem with some users signing up and accidentally leaving fields blank, which was bugging out and looping their signup process, thus we removed the blank fields from here, not knowing it would create massive problems with search.
Other Fixes
At the same time we took the opportunity to squeeze in some fixes and tweaks which sat just outside our roadmap:
1) You can better edit your mailing settings from your profile option under the tab "Mailing". You can disable types of email or all notifications here.
2) Unsubscribe links amended to be more reliable and on each email.
3) We've fixed image quality for some devices.
Future Updates
Our next big updates will be a brand new messaging system which will prepare us for our development of Andriod and iOS apps as well as overall improvements.
I wish I could share more about this, so I'll try and arrange some teaser screenshots in the new year. ;-)
Now you can search widely AND normally again, and select any field, including blank as an option to help find your perfect date.
